National Cube Contest-Edition II

Eligibility criteria
• Open to students of all engineering colleges specializing in civil engineering.
• A team of minimum three and maximum five participants are allowed.
• Each institution can have multiple teams with different mix design, but a student can participate in only one team.
• The submitted mix design report (in the given format) must be included and duly certified by the faculty mentor, who will be personally responsible for ensuring participants adhere to all guidelines.

Use of Materials
- Coarse and fine aggregates from natural sources must meet IS:383 requirements, with a maximum coarse aggregate size of 20 mm.
- Acceptable types of cement - Portland Pozzolana Cement (1489 Part I), Composite Cement (IS 16415 : 2015).
- Use of OPC is not permitted. Usage of Blended cement is preferred.
- Chemical admixtures conforming to IS:9103 may be used.

Mix Design
The participants should prepare the mix adhering to the guidelines to achieve a cube strength of 25-30 MPa on the day of testing.

Cube Specimen
- Cubical test specimens must be 150 x 150 x 150 mm in size, cast as one monolithic unit.
- Reinforcing fibres, impregnation with materials, or any similar modifications are not allowed.

General Instructions
• After the preparation of final mix report register your teams with us by clicking Regiter Now.
• Upon successful registration a team code will be sent to the registered email/Whatsapp Number.
• At the date of casting, an unique identification code will be sent to the registered email/Whatsapp Number and the same should be engraved on the cubes with sharp object (Not with paint or markers).
• At the time of casting an one minute short video should be recorded with GPS camera (along with date, time and location) and the same should be mailed to ici.civil@psgtech.ac.in on the same date of casting.
• Only after recieving the video your registration process will be complete.
• After 28 days, the cubes shall be suitably packed and delivered to the address for testing.
• Age of cubes on the day of testing shall be more than 28 days and less than 36 days.
• Each team is to submit a total of 3 cubes for testing on 28 days.
• The cubes should be of standard size of 150 X 150 X 150 mm.
• The cubes should not have any type of reinforcement or fibre.
• Violation of any of the guidelines will lead to disqualification.

Registration
- Each entry will be made by a group of three to five students.
- A mix design report (in the format given), including trial mix test results, the final mix design with relevant parameters should be submitted with each entry.
- A minimum of three cubes must be submitted with each entry.
- Cubes should be marked with the unique identification code recieved on the upward face to receive the test load.
- Cubes containers/packages should be mentioned with the sender's name and address.
Competitors are responsible for delivering the cubes to the address on or before
10/03/2025
The competitors bear all expenses materials, casting, packing, and delivery. Damaged cubes in transit will be rejected.

Testing of Cubes
• Testing of cubes will be done on the date given by participants (ie. when the age of cube is more than 28 days and less than 36 days)
• Competitors are welcomed on the day of testing of their cubes at ACRL Lab,PSG College of Technology.
• Testing will adhere to IS:516 standards, and the average strength of three cubes in direct compression will be considered for merit assessment based on
- Strength-to-cement content ratio.
- Uniformity of results
- Deviation from the target strength
- Special recognition for the use of fly ash/ admixtures
